Princess Princess
Catra, Adora, and Bow stood in line for being checked into the masquerade ball. Catra was a nervous wreck. She hadn't been to a ball since her ninth birthday, right before the tower. Adora wished for the magicat to waltz with her. But she didn't know how to dance. Not wanting to let Adora down, Catra spent the past four nights practicing with Bow. As they neared the check in, Catra became wary. She felt as if there was something to be suspicious of. She couldn't differentiate her thoughts from real life. She also couldn't tell if her nerves were from being Adora's plus one to the ball, or if it was her past trauma and instincts kicking in. Perhaps a little of both. When they finally reached the check in, Adora and Bow gave their weapons to the guards. That was the rule due to the kingdom of snows being a neutral space for wars. Violence free. Catra, still being wary, hid her dagger in thigh sheath under her long red and black dress. Once checked in, the trio was escorted to greet the crown princess. This was a tradition. As princesses, the girls were supposed to greet each other kindly. Adora stumbled as she watched Catra bow to the princess. The brunette looked perfect. Her dress looked gorgeous. Catra wore a dark red off shoulder ball gown that fit her small waist and showed her sharp collarbone perfectly. Her black and red mask covered her beautiful face and tiara stayed on her long flowy hair.

Catra was sitting at a table looking around. She seemed almost as if she was waiting for Adora to make the first move, lifting her off her feet and waltzing with her. "Hello everyone." The crowned princess, Frosta started. "It is now time for the first dance of the night. Grab a partner and enjoy!" The crowd applauded. As a slow song approached, Adora smugly walked over to Catra and put out a hand. "May I have this dance, fair lady?""You're such an idiot." Catra giggled. "But yes. Yes you may."The applause of the audience died down as Adora tried to ignore the stares they received. The way she was raised, being with another princess was frowned upon. But when she noticed that there were many other people dancing with the same gender, she calmed. Maybe it was just her kingdom. At last, Catra and Adora took their places on the dancefloor. Once the music started, Catra took a step forward and bowed. Adora did the same. They circled each other, their gaze remained locked. Adora placed her hand on Catra's waist, Catra's hand rested on Adora's shoulder, and their free hands finally met. Together, they waltzed to the music, their feet in perfect sync to the beating of the music, and Adora's heart. As the song progressed, Catra relaxed, forgetting about her old suspicion. She allowed a small smile to form on her lips. Adora was perfect. She was so lucky to have her. Adora spun Catra elegantly. She could feel her cheeks burning, Adora was sure she was in love with the brunette. The duo glided across the dance floor, happier than they ever had been. Bow sat with a smile as he watched his OTP dance together, so obviously in love. He only wished for a miracle like that to happen to him. "Hi." He looked up to see a girl. Hmm, guess that works. The girl was gorgeous, but Bow couldn't see her behind her mask. She had tan skin, a pink colored asymmetrical bob, and a beautiful pink gown that resembled the one he help Catra pick out. With this, she had white gloves and a pink mask. "H-Hi," He stuttered with a smile. The girl smiled before putting her hand out, "Would you maybe.. like to dance?" Bow nodded and they headed to the dance floor. He basically was basically jumping up and down. He smirked to Adora and joined the girl on the dance floor. *Once their dance came to an end, Catra's nerves reappeared. Specifically because she could feel eyes staring her down. Adora noticed it too. It wasn't the type of starring from before. This felt different. Eventually, the people caught Catra's gaze. They were men who wore medico della peste masks. There was at least one at each door of the ballroom. "Something is wrong." She muttered to Adora, trying to look calm. Adora gave her a reassuring smile. "Catra, I'm sure everything is okay. Are you not just being over worrisome?" Catra wasn't convinced, she felt sick. Adora could tell something was worrying Catra, she felt Catra's head. She was suddenly burning up. "I'm going to get you something to drink." Adora said as she lead Catra to the table with Bow nearby. Catra watched as Adora ran over to get a drink. Her ear twitched. Before she could react, she felt arms around her. She tried to scream but nothing came out because the man's hand was on her mouth. She panicked before she got an idea.Stealthily, she put her hand under her dress and grabbed her dagger. She bit his hand, making him hiss in pain. Then, she pushed him off of her and held the dagger to his neck. "Who sent you? What is this?" She asked with a harsh and loud tone. Catra was now making a scene, people surrounded them. "Plan B!" The man yelled. Suddenly, the men in the medico della peste masks began planting fire bombs all around the ice kingdom. Everyone was going crazy. The man in front of Catra revealed himself by taking off his mask. "Hordak..." she muttered. Horde Prime's second in command. He pulled a sword from his boot and began to fight Catra. Catra ripped her skirt, giving herself a comfortable balance and began to swing her dagger back and forth in the rhythm of Hordak's sword. Bow and the pink haired girl began to fight as well. Due to having no weapons, they fought with their fists. Adora was also fighting along with trying to lead people to safety. She was so worried about Catra. She was supposed to protect the magicat and she flat out left her? She felt so guilty. Once the fight had been done for the most part, the four were winning. Horde Prime's guards were mostly down. Adora ran to Catra and hugged her tight. "I'm so sorry I didn't listen to you." Catra hugged back, letting her fingers kneed Adora's hair. The other guests at the ball all hugged each other and clapped for the four. But the moment didn't last long. Slow clapping could be heard from the behind them. "Well, Well, Well." The voice said. Catra's fur stood up. Horde Prime. "I must say, Catra, I didn't think you had it in you." Catra was confused, what was Prime's motive? She glared and he continued. "That's okay though. This is all apart of the plan." He pulled out a piece of tech with a red button on it. And pressed it. The heat bombs started to explode one by one. The guests started running, pushing Catra and Bow away from Adora, who was being pushed the other way. Prime gave Catra a grin once she neared the door. "Adora!" she cried. "Catra?" Adora yelled, having a hard time finding the brunette due to everyone wearing masks. She was distracted, giving prime the perfect chance to spell her. A huge and powerful green light hit Adora, making her fall and pass out on the spot. "ADORA!" Catra screamed even louder. She tried to run to her to make sure she was okay, but she was being held back by Bow. "Bow? What are you doing?! We have to go back! She could be hurt!" She could feel tears streaming down her face as she stared at Adora's lifeless body. "Adora! No Please! Bow what are you doing?!"
"Catra! Please let go! I promised Adora I'd keep you safe! And that's what I'm doing! We have to get you out of here!" Bow yelled, grabbing Catra and pulling her back from the ball. He ran with Catra, practically dragged her until he was sure they were safe. Bow hugged Catra as she sobbed. "We're going to find her, Catra. I promise."
As for Adora, she went with a suit. At first, she was nervous to wear such things to a royal ball. When she considered herself a princess of her kingdom, her mother would've killed her if she saw the blonde wearing this. But for some reason, that, the fact that her mother would be mad about it, motivated Adora to want to wear it even more. In specific, she wore a burgundy blazer with a white corset under it. With that, she wore burgundy pants, a black mask, and gloves. When Catra returned from swapping pleasantries with the princess, it was Adora's turn. "Good luck!" Catra whispered before planting a small peck on Adora's cheek. Adora blushed and rushed up the stairs to greet the princess. Luckily remembering a good sum of her queen training, Adora knew the rules. She stepped up the last step and immediately bowed. Hold for12and 3. She whipped her head back up to see a ... child?"That's the princess? She's like 10!" Adora yelled unknowingly. "Did I say that out loud?" Judging by the crowds' gasps, yes. Yes you did. The princess was obviously young, she had short blue hair, an elegant navy dress that looked more expensive than Adora's entire kingdom, and a bedazzled mask. The princess glared right at Adora. "How dare you? And for your information, I'm 11 and three quarters. So shut the fuck up." Adora gasped before apologizing over and over. The princess rolled her eyes, shooing Adora away. "Way to make a first impression." Bow chuckled as Adora walked down the stairs. Adora looked down shamefully. "I really did it, didn't I?" Bow nodded with a sympathetic smile. "Hey, at least you're here with Catra."
